ZGS Communications announced today that it has appointed Gilberto Companioni as the News Director of its Telemundo affiliate station in Orlando, effective immediately. Companioni is an award-winning news executive with over two decades of experience. Telenoticias Orlando, the station’s local newscast, is #1 at both 6pm and 11pm among key demos. Companioni will lead the station’s News Division and will also direct Telemundo Orlando’s weekend political affairs program,Telenoticias Xtra.
Companioni has held positions with Univision as the Bureau Chief and Reporter for Primer Impacto, as well as HBO Productions where he worked on shows including Real Sports, HBO Countdown and Inside the NFL. Early in his career, he worked for Telemundo New York and for the Mexican political party PRI, where he directed election campaign videos and spots. He most recently served as the Executive Producer for Univision Colorado where he produced the 5pm newscast, and anchored and produced Primero y Diez con los Broncos (First and Ten: Broncos), a weekly behind the scenes look at the Denver Broncos. He is a three-time Emmy award winner who is consistently recognized for his in-depth human interest stories.
