Will Jawando most recently served as Director of Corporate and Government Affairs at Discovery Communications where he was responsible for developing and cultivating public-private partnerships. Prior to his tenure at Discovery, Will served as the Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships and Special Assistant to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, and acted as liaison to the business and philanthropic communities on the Obama Administration’s education initiatives. He also served as Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement where he led White House outreach efforts in the areas of education, poverty, and on issues relating to children and families.

Prior to his appointment at the Department of Education, he served as education policy advisor and judiciary legislative assistant, for Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, and as a legislative aide in the office of then, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, where his portfolio included work on education, election reform, civil liberties, and poverty.
He was recognized by the NAACP as one of “40 Power Young Professionals under 40,” during the 2010 Annual Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference.
Jawando is a native of Silver Spring, MD and holds a B.A. in Sociology from Catholic University, where he graduated Cum Laude. He also received his J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University.
