The National Latino Alliance on Health Information Technology Kicks off their2011 Season with the EHR-Insight 2015: EMR Adoption and the Latino Physician on February 17th at the Meliã Hotel Atlanta
Latinos whom have become the largest minority representing over 16% of our total U.S. population continue to change our country; LISTA established the National Latino Alliance on Health Information Technology (Latino HIT), in order to assure that our community is not left behind in the adoption Electronic Health Records(EHR). The LISTA Latino HIT initiative will focus on the Latino Primary Care Physician and Technology Professionals, while making sure disparities in health of the Latino community continues to be addressed.
Latino HIT in association with National Health Information Technology Collaborative for the Underserved and the Georgia HIT Regional Extension Center commences their 2011 Primary Care Physicians EHR Adoption Series EHR-Insight 2015 in Atlanta. The series encompasses eight events across the country ensuring that our Doctors not only adopt EHR but become meaningful users, that Latino Technology Professionals are being trained in HIT, hired and that we continuously develop the next generation of tech workforce in America.
Our goals are simple, we will let no community be left behind,” said Tony Jimenez, National Chair Latinos in Information Science and Technology Association. “The Latino community must be at the forefront of Health Information Technology and with the National Latino Alliance on HIT we will do just that. “

Marquez, President and CEO, LISTA’s National Latino Alliance on Health Information Technology. “The Alliance has great seminars on the importance of EHR adoption. As we continue to work with the Regional Extension Centers to identify and bring Latino serving primary care physicians to meaningful use, we will also encourage our Latino Techs on the importance of Health IT training and certification.”

We are ready to share our knowledge and best-practices with all physicians in the country and the community that surrounds us; Latino or not. Being Latino in America is an honor; but that Latinos serve everyone alike, is more so.”
During The National EHR-Insight 2015 Seminar Series, LatinoHIT will host educational programs featuring keynote speakers like Dr. Sanjay Gupta; CNN Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Elena Rios, MD; President of National Hispanic Medical Association,
Dr. Joexl Garcia – Former Assistant Secretary of Health and Dr. Garth Graham – Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health in the Office of Minority Health, among others. Presentations will include industry leader discussions with David R. Hunt, MD, FACS, Chief Medical Officer in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Dr. Jose Piovanetti, MD, CMIO Puerto Rico Dept of Health. Panel discussions will include EHR implementation, Broadband in the Practice, the State of Latino Health IT Adoption and Best Practices. These complimentary events will be held across the country with the kickoff on Thursday Feb 17th 2011, from 8-11 a.m. at the Meliã Hotel, 590 West Peachtree Street NW Atlanta. RSVP is required.
