The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) welcomes you to join us from June 20th – 24th as we gather in New Orleans for the 37th Annual Convention and Career Fair! Thousands of journalists, media executives, public relations professionals, and students are expected to attend to network, participate in professional development sessions and celebrate excellence in journalism.
Our Convention planning team has been hard at work to bring you one of the best conventions to date. Our annual convention is an invaluable opportunity to receive thousands of dollars worth of training through our workshops and learning labs, a chance to reconnect with your friends and colleagues from across the country, and a time to kick back and relax in the Big Easy!
We are planning a diverse mix of programming, a robust career fair and, of course, an exciting evening of entertainment each day. We are organizing not one, but two concerts during convention week that will feature popular music artists, Melanie Fiona, Earnest Pugh and Micah Stampley. And to do our part to help a city that still is coming back after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, our community service projects –NABJ Builds and NABJ Reads– will allow members to continue to give hope to the men, women and children of New Orleans.
This year’s invited guests include President Barack Obama, the likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, the family of Trayvon Martin, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards, movie director Spike Lee, comedians Cedric the Entertainer and Niecy Nash, actress Vanessa Williams, as well as Food Network personalities The Neelys, and a host of others.
Also expect to see: Melissa Harris-Perry, Pierre Thomas, Soledad O’Brien, TJ Holmes, Byron Pitts, Suzanne Malveaux, Gwen Ifill, Michele Norris, Stan Verrett, Michelle Miller, Arthel Neville, Alicia Quarles, Stephen A. Smith, and many more.
Now you see why we are excited to host our 2012 convention!
