Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia / KSTS today announced that Arlen Fernández has been named Reporter for Noticiero Telemundo 48 at 5:30, 6 and 11 PM. Fernández, whose first day at KSTS will be Monday, April 4, will join Telemundo 48’s dynamic team of reporters to deliver live, local breaking news for the Bay Area’s Hispanic community alongside news co-anchors Blanca Garza and César Bayona, weather anchor Gabriella Dellán and sports anchor Gabriel Sotelo. “Arlen brings a wealth of experience at both the local and national news levels and she’ll help us deliver the latest news and information in a compelling and impactful way to help our viewers stay ahead of the news,” said Freddy Oldenburg, Vice President of News at Telemundo 48. “We’re thrilled to have her join our news team and welcome her to the Bay Area.” Fernández joins Telemundo 48 from Univision Communications where she produced, wrote and reported on stories for the network’s national newscasts including, Noticiero Univision, Noticiero Fin de Semana, Edición Nocturna and the network’s national morning show, Despierta America. While at Univision, she also produced, edited and reported stories for the network’s digital platform, UnivisionNoticias.com. Prior to that, Fernández reported for Univison 23 / WLTV in Miami and covered local breaking news for the local station’s morning newscast. Before joining Univision, Fernández worked as a reporter for Centroamerica TV, a DISH network channel that delivers programming from Central America. Born and raised in Nicaragua, Fernández launched her journalism career at Canal 2, a local television station in Nicaragua. She received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Florida International University. Fernández recently moved from Miami, Florida and has relocated to San Jose, California.
