Sennseis has launched a global online community in conjunction with the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley and with the Life Reimagined initiative at AARP, to support the GGSC’s massive open online course (MOOC), “The Science of Happiness.”
Sennseis, according to their Web site, is “a new company founded by experienced technology entrepreneurs joined by researchers based at Stanford University.”
On the company blog, Sennseis co-founder Giovanni Rodriguez writes, “The objective? In the short term: to create a global community in support of GGSC’s ‘The Science of Happiness,’ the first massive open online course to teach the ground-breaking science of positive psychology, which explores the roots of a happy and meaningful life. In the long term: to help create a new global marketplace for health, mental fitness, and lifelong learning.”
Rodriguez goes on to state that the course, which begins today, is expected to enroll more than 100,000 students.
“Students are coming from all walks of life, including the future instructors of positive psychology, a critical audience for the course instructors who designed the course in part to ‘train the trainers,’ Rodriguez stated on the blog. “We have engaged trainers early in the developed of the Sennseis community, and saw first hand the interesting mix of professionals in academia, business, and the allied health professions.”
Rodriguez is the co-founder of several companies, among them SocialxDesign, The Conversation Group, and Hubbub, and was Chief Marketing Officer for Broadvision.
