Wells Fargo has named former Public Relations Society of America chair Rosanna Fiske as VP of corporate communications for Florida.

Fiske started in the role on Monday. She is leading the financial institution’s team in the state, overseeing all internal and external communications initiatives, executive advocacy, and social media.

Fiske has replaced Christina Smotryski, who was named the bank’s head of marketing and multicultural communications nationally.

Fiske is overseeing a team of four, reporting to Bridget Braxton, Wells Fargo’s SVP of corporate communications for the eastern region.

“One of the more interesting aspects for me is the incredible push that Wells Fargo has for internal communications for our roughly 15,000 employees in Florida,” Fiske said. “There are a number of internal communications vehicles, and that was exciting to me, as well as the social media component; it really brings a different perspective to the role of communications, overall.”

In 2011, Fiske was the first Latina to serve as chair of the PRSA. Last August,Republica hired her as EVP and chief strategy officer, and she managed research and planning, account management, communications, content creation and engagement, digital, and media at the firm.

Previously, Fiske served as director of the master’s program in global strategic communications at Florida International University and as a professor in the advertising and PR department there. She has also worked as partner and senior counsel at Communique Group/Rise Strategies, as well as VP at Ketchum.

Fiske has worked with clients including Charles Schwab, GE Financial, BankUnited, Baptist Health South Florida, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, and American Airlines.
