Rentrak Corporation (Nasdaq: RENT), a leading company in multi-screen media measurement serving the advertising, television and entertainment industries, announced a multi-year TV Essentials deal with Olympusat, which operates and provides turnkey operational and distribution services for several Hispanic, and faith-based networks.
Formed in 1999, Olympusat was the first independent company to offer a package of Spanish-language networks in the United States. The company represents diverse channels through its Hispanic portfolio, Faith & Families offering and top Emerging Networks.
“Over the years, these highly targeted networks have grown in popularity to become widely distributed across the media landscape. As a top provider of independent programming, Olympusat chose to work with Rentrak in order to gain access to the most detailed reporting to prove the value our programming brings the cable, satellite, and telco industries,” said Tom Mohler, President and CEO of Olympusat.
The Hispanic-language and faith-based categories are a quickly-growing and integral part of the media industry with viewers watching a combined total of more than 160 billion hours of programming on Hispanic and faith-based networks each month, according to Rentrak Q1-Q3 average monthly gross viewing-hours data.
“TV Essentials measures all networks at granular viewing levels offering, for the first time, the ability for highly targeted networks like the Hispanic and faith-based categories to accurately quantify their audience,” said Carol Hinnant, Senior Vice President of Business Development, AMI Divison at Rentrak. “Adding Olympusat to Rentrak’s growing network subscriber base further demonstrates the power of our national and local TV viewing database service.”
Rentrak’s TV Essentials is the television ratings database currency that measures all networks at a granular level in 210 markets nationwide. The service processes data from over 17 million televisions and is the only fully-integrated system of detailed satellite, telco TV and cable viewing information commercially available featuring segmentation overlays for more strategic targeting.
