Top creative from Latin America joins from Peralta StrawberryFrog

Alain Groenendaal, President and CEO of leading full-service marketing communications agency Wing (www.insidewing.com), has announced the appointment of Renata Florio to Chief Creative Officer. Florio, a top creative from Brazil, is charged with overseeing the agency’s creative direction and all work for its clients, which include Procter &Gamble, Goya Foods, Eli Lilly and the Ad Council. She will be based in New York.

Florio, who most recently worked as Executive Creative Director at Peralta StrawberryFrog in Sao Paulo, brings nearly 20 years of marketing experience including work on both global and pan regional Latin American and Spanish campaigns.

Florio has strong expertise in the fast food, beverage and financial services categories, and a host of industry accolades including eight Cannes Lions. Notably, her FedEx campaign “Neighbors” — which shows how FedEx bridges global distances — won a Gold Lion at Cannes and a Yellow Pencil at D&AD. Florio was also copywriter on a Gold-Lion-winning print campaign for Sanofi-Aventis’ dental floss, which dramatizes the way food gets trapped in our teeth in a surprising way.

“Renata is a major talent. Her work is inspired and effective, and demonstrates a true understanding of target consumers,” said Groenendaal. “What’s more, she is a skilled creative leader, and I’m confident she’ll bring out the best in our team.”

Prior to working with StrawberryFrog, Florio served as executive creative director at DM9DDB, Sao Paulo. Throughout her career, she has also worked in various creative roles at Brazilian agencies including AlmapBBDO, F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi and Publicis. Florio’s many industry accolades illustrate her creative passions and ability to put an unexpected twist on everyday work.

Through her career, she has worked on brands in nearly every category: Packaged Goods (Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Nestle); automotive (General Motors, Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda); Telecom (Telefonica/Movistar /Vivo across Latin America); financial services (Citibank); and  household appliances (Whirlpool, Phillips).

“I’m extremely proud to be named Chief Creative Officer of Wing,” Florio said, “The growing U.S. Hispanic market presents a sea of opportunities, and I’m thrilled to be joining the talented creatives at Wing to make work that resonates with Latino consumers.”

Florio began her career as a teacher before moving into advertising. She holds degrees in language and literature.
