Latino pubic radio network Radio Bilingüe, an organization funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, has launched LA>FWD, a robust website covering news, music and entertainment from an ethnically diverse perspective.

“This launch comes after two years of planning, research, intensive content testing, the hiring of staff and reaching out to the diverse communities of the greater L.A. region,” noted Hugo Morales, executive director for Radio Bilingüe. “Finally, a diverse, young Los Angeles will be served by public media. This is a timely and pioneering enterprise.”

LA>FWD will be part of the network’s L.A.-based LAPM. The content will be multi-media in scope with a strong emphasis on streaming video. Creating video stories, webisodes, viral video, evergreen video stories and the use of archival video will be key to populating the LA>FWD website.

“LAPM and LA>FWD are important new additions to public media,” said Patricia Harrison, President and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. “CPB is committed to serving and engaging diverse audiences, and we are excited that LAPM is creating content that will extend our public service to a new audience for public media.”

LA>FWD will also host blogs on a variety of topics related to the preferences of young, 25-40, ethnically diverse audience in Southern California and beyond. These will include news, information, culture and arts, music, entertainment, sports and other key topics. Social media will be employed to support, expand and market the content. Aggregation will also be used to continually refresh the site with breaking news updates, the latest developments in a range of fields and fresh commentary on trending and current topics of the day.
