The moral and business value of diversity in today’s ever-changing business and society will be discussed in several workshops offered at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) 2010 International Conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 16-19.  Workshops will explore the many facets of diversity in America as they apply to public relations and communication professionals.

“To move business forward and stay competitive, companies are realizing the critical importance of embracing today’s rapidly growing diverse market,” said Sonia Sroka, PRSA Diversity Committee chair and SVP, director of Hispanic marketing at Porter Novelli. “This year’s International Conference has much to offer to those looking for advice from top experts presenting case studies on diversity. Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to grow your understanding of how you can engage diverse audiences or what role diversity plays in your organization.”
A sample of diversity-oriented sessions includes the following:
  • “Powering Innovation: The Role of Diversity and Inclusion,” presented by Nelson Fernandez, managing director, APCO Worldwide, and Jose Hermocillo, senior vice president and managing director, APCO Worldwide.
  • “Employee Resource Groups That Grow the Business,” presented by Tom Cunningham, vice president, corporate communications, Interpublic Group; Julia Hood, president, Arthur W. Page Society; and Kevin Hooks, senior vice president, intergrated media, Weber Shandwick.
