The Latin American “tropical pop” duo, Periko & Jessi Leon, have been nominated for the very first time for a Latin Grammy award in the“Best New Artist” category.
Based in Miami, together they “unite to créate a duo full of flavors from Latin America with tropical-pop sounds.”They released their first album, called “Fuerza Mayor” (Stronger Force), in August of this year.

Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 15th celebration of its awards for Latin music on their Web site on September 24th.

Representing their countries of origin, Argentina and Peru, under the category “Best New Artist” is a major achievement in the career of the young duo. Periko shares, “I will never forget when they mentioned our names. Many memories came to me as a child learning to play guitar, and I remembered when I told my family I wanted to be a musician for the first time.”
In a short period of time, the duo has won the hearts of their audience and influenced music in the United States and Latin America. They have been known for their refreshing music Jessi Leon shared her excitement, “My hands were shaking, I was intears, something I never thought possible, and it was something like a dream come true.”
The 15th annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast live on the Univision TV network from Las Vegas on Thursday, November 20, at 8 pm ET / 7 PM CT.
