Pepe’s El Original, produced by snack food maker Rudolph Foods is launching their first “Mi Amor Mi Chicharrones” contest from September 15 through November 30 in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage month. Contest participants in the southwest U.S. are encouraged to share stories about the people who first introduced them to their love of chicharrones.  Each submission has a chance to win various cash prizes and to have their award-winning story published on PepesSnacks.com.

Each story submitted will be evaluated based on authenticity, heritage and family appeal. A panel of Pepe’s judges will select seven winners in total. One grand prize winner will have a photo of their family and winning story featured online as well as receive a $3,500 cash prize. Three second-place winners will receive $200 each and three third-place winners will win a variety of Pepe’s snacks and a t-shirt.

“Chicharrones are the heart of Hispanic heritage and few know that better than Pepe’s,” says Mark Singleton, VP of Marketing and Sales for Rudolph Foods. “We’re looking forward to tapping into age-old stories that remember that love-at-first-chicharron and who introduced them. Mothers, fathers, abuelos, abuelitas, it doesn’t matter … it’s a special tradition we’re excited to be a part of. Awarding a grand, second and third prize to the best stories is just salt on the pig skin.”
