NAPW honors Nancy Iglesias-Gillen, Graphic Designer as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in commercial arts with this prestigious distinction. As a-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.
Ms. Iglesias-Gillen succeeded in making the transition from a Met Life financial advisor to graphic designer, which has been a lifelong dream. Her original designs are making a positive impact on an impressive list of clients seeking to project their image out into the marketplace. “My eight years in the corporate sector have made it possible for me to attract clients from a business perspective as well as a creative perspective,” she says.
In order to keep current with the latest trends Ms. Iglesias-Gillen’s education was ongoing. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of NY and was the valedictorian of her class. While going to school, Ms. Iglesias-Gillen freelanced as a graphic designer for numerous civic and nonprofit organizations in public relations and worked as a coordinator of special events. Her studies have augmented her artistic capabilities for identity branding comprised of logos, business cards, stationery design, posters, invitations and brochures.
Some of Ms. Iglesias-Gillen’s accomplishments include: Coordinator of Circula de la Hispanidad, the first Long Island Hispanic Film Festival; 2012 Nassau County Legislature Certification of Recognition; 2012 Nassau County Supervisor Kate Murray Certification of Recognition and 2012 Village of Hempstead Mayor’s Recognition Award.
