The National Association of Hispanic Publications was stunned by the recent passing of President Zeke Montes, but the NAHP Board has committed to moving forward in a positive manner and wants to reassure members that the Association’s work continues. In light of Mr. Montes’ declining health, the NAHP Board of Directors met for a retreat in early January to make some decisions about the roles of the existing leadership. With the guidance of a professional Parliamentarian, the NAHP Board appointed Vice President of Membership, Jose Luis B. Garza to serve as the Interim Presiding Officer of NAHP. Other members of the NAHP Board of Directors have stepped up to take on significant roles within the organization to advance the mission and the vision of NAHP.
At the 2013 NAHP Convention and Business Expo, NAHP Members will elect new Executive Leadership as the President, President-Elect, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Marketing, Secretary, and Treasurer positions will be open. The passing of Zeke Montes has not changed the regular election schedule of the Association leadership. Executive Leadership is elected by the general membership in odd-numbered years, and Regional Directors and Vice Directors are elected in even-numbered years.
