Elected officials and celebrities join Los Angeles’ Exitos 93.9 FM (KXOS) to honor Latinos’ contributions to America’s defense
In observance of Memorial Day 2011, Southern California’s fastest-rising Spanish-language radio station, Exitos 93.9 FM (KXOS) is leading a campaign to recognize Latino troops and veterans with a special weekend-long broadcast, May 27 – 30.
Exitos’ Memorial Day: Honor y Orgullo Latino (Honor and Latino Pride) is an on-air, online and social media campaign, encouraging the public to participate and honor family and friends in the services with on-air dedications and by posting photos of loved ones in uniform on the station’s Facebook “Wall of Honor” page.
The station will kick off the weekend-long programming on Friday, May 27 with a special two-hour morning broadcast that includes on-air military guests and interviews with leading local elected officials.
On Memorial Day, the station will broadcast from the 64th Annual Memorial Day observance at the Mexican-American All Wars Memorial in Los Angeles, CA, one of the largest Latino observances in the city.
Among the dignitaries participating in the program are: Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47); Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-31); Senator Kevin de Leon (CA-22); Assembly members Ricardo Lara (CA-50), Gil Cedillo (CA-45) and Norma Torres (CA-61); and Los Angeles City Council members Tony Cardenas (CD-6) and Jose Huizar (CD-14). Celebrity participation includes Flex, Adrian Bellini, Tito Puente Jr., and others.
