Mediaplanet has announced the launch of its second annual cross-platform edition of “Hispanic Heritage,” a campaign that aims to educate both those in the Latino community, and those who are not, about the increasingly rich social, economic, political and cultural influence of the new, emerging generation of U.S. Latinos.
Highlighting a number of topics surrounding family, culture, food and entertainment, while also diving into harder topics focused on educational opportunity, health and nutrition, immigration policies, community support, entrepreneurialism, and corporate diversity, “Hispanic Heritage” hopes to empower the Latino community to thrive, in both academic and professional environments, while inspiring parents, educators and policy makers to foster success.
The print component of “Hispanic Heritage” was distributed within the September 6th edition of the Los Angeles Times in the L.A. Metro area with a circulation of approximately 450,000 copies and an estimated readership of 1.4 million. The digital component is being distributed nationally through a vast social media strategy and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets.
Shakira, world renowned singer-songwriter, cultural icon and acting member of the President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, graces the cover of the print publication. In an exclusive interview with the star, Mediaplanet reveals the wildly successful and extremely influential Columbian-born artist’s personal experience with education and language learning growing up in the entertainment industry, her strong views on the importance of early childhood development, universal education, language learning, maintaining cultural ties, as well as how global community can collectively take steps towards a better future for our youth.
