The 2016 Latinas & Power® Symposium will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at theHilton Hotel in Hartford, CT. Latinas & Power® is New England’s largest network of its kind, and one of the most prestigious east coast events that inspire women with their annual presentation of empowering workshops, motivational speakers, a career expo, a business tradeshow and a treasure trove of networking activities.
Since 2004, with the generous support and contributions from some of the region’s largest and most respected companies, Latinas & Power®, has been able to host this yearly exciting symposium. Latina professionals, whose focus is on professional development, building wealth, promoting entrepreneurship and holistic health, created the Hartford-based group.
“This is a corporate-driven event which brings together more than 400 women and 100 high school students, to share strategies for success, encourage continued professional development and to promote the many accomplishments we are so proud of,” stated the event producer, Marilyn Alverio.
We’re thrilled to support Latinas & Power,” said Floyd W. Green III, Aetna’s Vice President of Community Relations and Urban Marketing. “To be a part of such an amazing event that brings together talented and accomplished Latina women from across the country to Hartford, is extremely powerful and we’re so excited to be a part of this initiative.”
Alverio, who is also a corporate marketing professional at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), and the creator and founder of Latinas & Power®, concurred. “Companies participate because not only is this a growing demographic, but also because they recognize we bring a unique set of skills and insights to the marketplace. The extra bonus is that they can send well deserving employees as a professional development and training day.”
Corporate sponsorships allow Latinas & Power® to present a highly organized event that brings talent from across the country to Hartford, the capital of Connecticut. Each year, the event introduces high profile celebrities, personalities and other remarkably accomplished Latinas that come with a powerful and culturally relevant story to share. This year’s event sponsors include: MassMutual, Travelers, Aetna, CHET, AARP, The Hartford, CBS Radio, Eversource, Univision, Cigna, TIAA-CREF, CT Housing & Finance Authority, Telemundo, Webster Bank, Farmington Bank, Liberty Bank, Pita Communications, Space Craft Manufacturing, and CT Health Foundation.

The women we meet give great feedback on how they use AARP resources for themselves and their families.”
“From the beginning, Latinas & Power® Symposium has been nurtured and fueled by the generous support of our sponsors,” stated Alverio. “The positive impact after each event, keeps us more determined than ever to raise the bar higher by presenting quality speakers, most relevant information and resources to help Latinas claim their stake at all levels in the workforce.”
