Global architecture and design firm, Perkins+Will, announces that Jose Gelabert-Navia AIA LEED AP will take on a firmwide role as Regional Director for Latin America. Gelabert-Navia previously served as Managing Director of the Perkins+Will Miami office, leading the team on a variety of projects including museums, academic buildings, corporate offices, and residential spaces. In his new role he will work closely with International Strategy Director, Richard Marshall.
“Jose has been an integral part of our efforts to expand Perkins+Will’s international portfolio,” said Phil Harrison FAIA LEED AP, President and CEO of Perkins+Will. “Through his leadership of our Latin American Initiative, he has developed strong relationships with clients and partners throughout Latin America and I am confident that he will continue to do outstanding work as Regional Director.”
As Managing Director of the Miami office, Gelabert-Navia helped execute designs in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico. He is currently overseeing a wide spectrum of projects globally, including a major consumer products innovation and research center in Brazil and numerous corporate healthcare and hospitality facilities.
“I am honored by this opportunity to further Perkins+Will’s global practice and I look forward to acquiring and shepherding new and ongoing projects within Latin America,” Gelabert-Navia said.
Gelabert-Navia holds a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University. He also attended the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He is a Professor of Architecture and the former Dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Miami.
