Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC), the world’s foremost manufacturer of guitars, amplifiers, and related equipment is looking for a Marketing Communications Summer Intern.

We’re looking for a student who is passionate about music and Fender instruments to serve as an integral and productive part of our team. You will be assigned multiple projects on an ongoing basis and be asked to contribute to our strategic initiatives. This position offers a unique and well-rounded opportunity to learn about several aspects of Marketing Communications including Public Relations, Social Media, Online Marketing, Web Content, Promotions and Consumer Insights.

The ideal candidate for this position is a smart, creative and motivated individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. We operate in a fast-paced environment and are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable with multi-tasking and who is detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

GENERAL

Provide competitive analysis across web, social, PR, video, online marketing efforts

Participate in MarCom creative briefs

Assist with recording metrics for our MarCom reports

 

WEB/SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT

Write feature news pieces and blog content across FMIC web properties

Contribute to FMIC social media overall strategy and content plan

Assist with moderating product ratings & reviews

Monitor FMIC social media properties for consumer feedback

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Assist with media interaction, donation and sponsorship requests, media clipping/monitoring services and media databases

Draft internal and external public relations materials; will include new product news releases, event media advisories and post-event photo news releases

Support marketing, public relations, community relations and business affairs campaigns and events

 

MULTIMEDIA

Help catalog & archive video footage

Organize, label & edit photos

Create FMIC photo galleries

 

COPYWRITING

Provide Eblast copy

Provide video descriptions

Provide contest/promotional copy

Provide product copy for catalog and web needs

Proofreading

 

PROMOTIONS

Contribute new ideas to the FMIC promotional calendar

Assist with contacting contest winners and fulfilling prize packages

 

REQUIREMENTS

A full-time undergraduate student currently going into their junior year or senior year with a GPA of 3.00 or above

Major in Marketing, Communications or related fields

Excellent written and oral communication skills. (Writing samples required)

Solid knowledge & usage of key social media platforms

Strong Microsoft Office skills

A basic knowledge of Fender guitars and /or love of music is a plus

Must be punctual and dependable

 

This internship is paid (minimum wage) and will require approximately 40 hours a week. The hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday. The internship will last approximately 3 months.
