Manager, Internal Communications
As Manager, Internal Communications, you will lead the planning, organization, coordination and implementation of specific communications designed to inform and engage the 180,000 employees across the Darden organization. This includes employee targeted publications, intranet, executive communications, internal announcements, electronic newsletters, organizational memos, Total Rewards support materials and the company’s entrance into the use of social media as an internal communications vehicle. You will also provide expertise and leadership of the company’s foray into the use of social media vehicles as an internal communications and employee engagement tool. Additional responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and leading the creation and distribution of content for specific internal communications vehicles
- Managing the creation and distribution of communications to specific internal audiences
- Partnering in the creation of social media strategy and leading the implementation of the strategy
- Coordinating numerous communications across multiple vehicles to ensure maximum impact and efficiency
- Understanding the value and use of social media as an employee engagement tool and providing strategic direction in their design and implementation
- Managing intranet and assisting with the development of new intranet architecture
- Developing team members by seeking out and supporting training, development, and other professional growth opportunities; managing individual and team performance through coaching, feedback, and performance management discussions
- Planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling all aspects of a project and ensuring engagement, commitment, and risk management
- Creating and assisting with the creation of executive communications (e.g. scripts, presentations, etc.); providing direction on content, frequency, and most effective delivery medium for various communications
- Remaining up to date on latest trends and tools related to internal communications with particular focus on social media
- Partnering with operating company Media and Communications on the development and implementation of brand-specific internal communications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field) and a minimum of 5 years of internal communications experience in an agency or within a large corporation. Demonstrated experience in developing and managing a variety of internal communication vehicles is essential, as is the ability to use social media as a tool to reach all employees with compelling messages, creating a two-way dialogue. The ability to appropriately weave Darden Employer Brand messaging throughout all employee touch-points is critical for success, as is the ability to meet desired outcomes on time and within budget.
Advanced degree in Communications and strong leadership and coaching skills are highly desired.
