The South by SouthWest Film Conference and Festival is a uniquely creative environment featuring the dynamic convergence of talent, smart audiences and industry heavyweights. The festival runs from March 11-20 and is considered the launching pad for new creative content. The internationally acclaimed Festival celebrates raw innovation and emerging talent, featuring a truly diverse program that includes provocative documentaries, subversive comedies, genre standouts and more.
One of the films accepted by SXSW is “blacktino,” the first film by Austin, Texas, native Aaron Burns, which features Latino stars like Danny Trejo.
According to the official SXSW description:
“blacktino” is a dark teen comedy about an overweight half-black, half-hispanic nerd named Stefan Daily. He was raised by his black grandmother in a medium sized suburb of Austin, TX. Struggling to find his place in a mostly white high school, Stefan finds sanctuary among the eclectic mix of social outcasts in the school’s Theatre Department. In the tradition of the great teen comedies of the last thirty years “blacktino” will ensure that the torch of “teen angst” continues to burn bright.
