impreMedia announced the launch of Tu Trabajo, a new monthly column featuring U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.

Tu Trabajo is designed to offer Hispanic audiences a forum where they can engage with Secretary Solis and become informed on programs available to them through the U.S. Department of Labor. The column, went live across all of impreMedia’s digital publications, and in La Opinión and El Diario print editions, will run the second Friday of every month. In addition, impreMedia will also leverage its digital and social media platforms to establish a dialogue online with Secretary Solis featuring a monthly Q&A, offering links and resources from the U.S. Department of Labor.

In a recent poll conducted by impreMedia and Latino Decisions, results found that Hispanics had a high level of concern about jobs and the labor market in general, with 44% of respondents ranking the economy as their top concern and the number one priority for Congress and the President. The survey also found that 37% of respondents were ‘very worried’ that they or someone in their household would become unemployed in the near term.

“Getting Americans back to work, expanding opportunities, ensuring the safety of workers and protecting their right to keep what they earn – these are all top priorities for my department. They are also the focus of what I know will be a great dialogue with my fellow Latinos through this column,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. “As the first Latina to serve in a U.S. President’s cabinet, I am committed to ensuring that the nation’s Latino communities are part of America’s effort to outcompete the world. Achieving that requires good communication, and ensuring that Latinos have the information they need to do their jobs safely, provide for their families and share in the country’s economic recovery.”
