Latinas in Six Cities to be recognized for Excellence in Community Leadership, Health, Education, Business & Technology and Arts & Culture

impreMedia, aHispanic news and information company in the U.S., announced today that nominations are now being accepted for its annual Mujeres Destacadas (Exceptional Women) awards. Nominations will be accepted online at www.mujeresdestacadas.net through December 20, 2013.

Now in its ninth year, impreMedia’s signature editorial and event series Mujeres Destacadas honors exceptional women for their outstanding contributions at a volunteer or professional level in the areas of Community Leadership, Health, Education, Business/Technology and Arts & Culture.

Marking the first time El Mensajero participates in the program, the 2014 edition will be the first to not only honor Mujeres Destacadas in the Bay Area but also to span six cities. In total, impreMedia and its market-leading group of daily and weekly Spanish-language publications will recognize 100 extraordinary women. Dailies La Opinion in Los Angeles and El Diario La Prensa in New York will honor 30 women each while 10 will be feted by weekly publications El Mensajero (San Francisco), La Prensa (Orlando), RUMBO (Houston), and La Raza (Chicago).

Over the course of six weeks, starting in February 2014 and leading up to each market’s awards luncheon, honorees will be profiled in the print editions, as well as featured in a dedicated website debuting this year.

Past sponsors include Wells Fargo, Walmart, The Nielsen Company, Macy’s, Goya Foods, Tadin Herb & Tea Co., University of Phoenix and Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuaries.
