Hispanic Public Relations Association congratulates Nadia Vizueta of MultiVu Latino and Gabriel Reyes of Reyes Entertainment for being the September 2011 Members of the Month! Here is what they had to share with us:
Nadia Vizueta – Director, MultiVu Latino, NY Chapter
HPRA: What do you enjoy about PR in your line of work?
Nadia: PR has changed so much in the last few years. When I first started working in PR, traditional media was king. Now, online communities and blogs have really had a major impact on brands. I enjoy counseling my clients on different ways to reach Hispanic media and consumers via various traditional PR and social media communications strategies. This field is constantly evolving which is very exciting.
HPRA: What is something not many people know about you?
Nadia: I was a volunteer EMT for the Roselle Park First Aid Squad in Roselle Park, NJ for more than 10 years. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
HPRA: What is the best advice you have ever received in your professional career?
Nadia: Always be open-minded and look for opportunities. Â Also, take the time to learn from mistakes and turn those mistakes into teachable moments. Â
HPRA: What advice can you provide to incoming generation of Hispanic PR professionals?
Nadia: PR isn’t a 9-to-5 job. It shouldn’t take over your life, but in this competitive field, work ethic is extremely important. Those who have a strong desire to succeed and constantly keep learning will go a long way.                                                       Â
Gabriel Reyes – President, Reyes Entertainment, L.A. Chapter
HPRA: What do you enjoy about PR in your line of work?
Gabriel: What I enjoy about PR and my line of work is the constant interaction with different types of people and involvement in different projects. Â It keeps things interesting and fresh.
HPRA: What is something not many people know about you?
Gabriel: Something that not many people know about me is that I was a dancer in my young age. I also write, paint and draw in my spare time.
HPRA: What is the best advice you have ever received in your professional career?
Gabriel: There have been many good pieces of advice that I’ve received in my professional career. Â One of the best is: Â “Keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth closed.” Â It seems to serve in almost every situation.
HPRA: What advice can you provide to incoming generation of Hispanic PR professionals?
Gabriel: Learn the craft of PR and especially learn how to write well and tell a compelling story.
