Manny Ruiz, chairman of the Hispanicize companies that includes the annual Hispanicize event, was honored with the Miami Magnet 2014 Award by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) this past Friday.

The annual award is presented to individuals who host significant conferences and conventions positively impacting Greater Miami and the beaches.

The fifth Hispanicize event took place from April 1-4 in downtown’s Miami’s InterContinental hotel. More than 1,700 U.S. Hispanic journalists, bloggers, marketers, music artists, filmmakers, entrepreneurs and celebrities participated in the event over the course of four full days and a pre-event day, March 31.

This is the third year in a row the Hispanicize event takes place in Greater Miami and news about Hispanicize 2015, including hotel venue and dates, is about to be announced.

The Miami Magnet program was initiated more than 20 years ago to encourage local community residents to promote Greater Miami to their respective associations, corporations, and affiliations.

Other recipients of this year’s Miami Magnet awards include: Burton Landy for hosting the International Council for Commercial Arbitration, Peter Clarke for the 2013 Models Conference and 2014 High Assurance Systems Engineering, Jose Rojas for the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) 2014 Mid-Year Meeting and David Schwartz for the Florida International Bankers Association 2014 Anti Money Laundering Compliance Conference.
