Communications Specialist
Miami Children’s Hospital

Job Summary
Responsible for planning, developing and coordinating internal employee
communications to promote programs and events of key significance to support
talent and leadership initiatives. Through effective organizational
communications strategies and tactics, this individual will support cultural
and organizational change initiatives and work to build employee awareness,
understanding, acceptance and commitment to the organization’s vision,
values and business priorities. Maintains close interaction with leaders to
ensure employee engagement which includes open, interactive and effective
internal employee communications via electronic, video and print
communications.

Job Roles
Writes, edits and reviews employee communications related to TM&E –
articles, letters, newsletters, flyers, notices, presentations, speeches,
emails, etc.
Implements an annual comprehensive communication plan to consistently and
effectively communicate key messages to support changes, updates and
revisions to the TM mission, vision, values, policies and procedures.
Assists in identifying new communication opportunities and developing
appropriate messages.
Collaborates with Internal Communications (Marketing) and Senior Leadership
to coordinate employee communication messages.
Creates the calendar and other communication materials for TM&E related
events, promotions and special projects and manages a schedule of
communication promotion activities.
Communicates using a variety of media to get the message out to employees on
a timely basis – electronic, video, website, blogs, employee portal and
sharepoint.
Identifies and promotes rewards and recognition programs and communicates
these programs effectively.
Monitors the effectiveness of employee communication initiatives.
Responsible for implementing the annual employee satisfaction survey.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a
related field
Two years of experience in corporate communications, public relations or
employee communications/relations
English proficiency required; Spanish preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Experience working with and writing for diverse employee groups
Knowledge of basic internal communication strategies
Demonstrated writing and editing skills
Effective verbal communication skills, public speaking, effective listening,
and interviewing and gathering information from all levels of staff
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities meet or exceed
deadlines
Knowledge of working with vendors, suppliers and distributors of collateral
material
Knowledge of graphic design
Knowledge of public relations and media
Familiar with the use of the internet, sharepoint and employee portals
