The Newt Gingrich-backed Conservative Hispanic web site The Americano will host its First Annual Hispanic Forum and Gala to be held at the Washington Hilton in DC on December 2-3, 2010.
The theme of the Forum will be The Road to Freedom: Sharing American Liberty with Hispanics Around the Globe. The Conference will focus on the importance of defending American values, democracy, and how best to counter political messages that threaten our natural right to freedom.
Organizers say the idea behind this event is to bring Hispanics together to engage in today’s hot topics. Discussions will include: Reflections on Hispanic Economy in the U.S., Immigration and National Security, Hispanic Media and Its Impact, Latino Blogs and Social Media, and Terrorism in the Americas. There will also be a “Consensus Lunch Discussion” with the purpose of creating a bipartisan agreement for the development of the Hispanic community.
“Today, more than ever, it is important that we focus on democracy and freedom and the dangers of big government,” said Speaker Newt Gingrich, co-founder of The Americano. “We created this Forum because we believe that American Hispanics play an important role in shaping the conservative dialogue in Western civilization,” said Gingrich. “The Americano stands for liberty and democracy in the U.S. and throughout the world and defends those who have this right taken away.”
Gingrich will be joined by former Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar of Spain, and top U.S. Hispanic leaders that include: Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, Leslie Sanchez, Hector Barreto Jr., Alvaro Vargas-Llosa, Ruben Navarrete, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and others.
Outstanding Hispanic Award
In addition to a prestigious line-up of speakers, The Americano will honor an Outstanding Hispanic at the Gala on the evening of December 2. Criteria for the award are an American Hispanic who has attained personal, educational, or professional success or impact and has then given back to the community.
Nominations are open until October 1st at www.TheAmericano.com/Forum2010. The Americano invites all nominations–from family members, to friends and co-workers.
The Americano will then select the top five favorites and will invite The Americano’s readership to vote on the winner. The winner will fly with a guest to Washington, DC, to attend the Gala and receive the award. The winner will be highlighted on TheAmericano.com.
