On Wednesday night, during a rather dramatic on-air resignation speech, CNN anchor Lou Dobbs said he wants to “go beyond the role” of a TV news journalist and become more of a newsmaker by helping to more actively tackle some of the country’s problems. By declaring the move as a response to the urging of “leaders in media, politics and business,” Dobbs seemed to be aiming for a populist tone more reminiscent of … a politician on the trail.
