It could be that the first mass promotion of the Caribbean Islands-originated distilled liquor known as rum came from the Andrews Sisters 1940s pop hit, Rum and Coca Cola. Over the years, this distilled beverage, manufactured from sugar cane, has found a home in such popular bar cocktails as Pina Colada, Daiquiri and Mojito. “However, rum is not just to be mixed into a cocktail,” avows Maribel Viteri, International marketing Manager for Flor de Caña, the most awarded rum in the world, produced by Compania Licorera de Nicaragua.
