LOS ANGELES, CA – On Thursday, September 10, PADRES Contra El Cancer (PADRES), a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families, will celebrate its ninth annual fund-raising gala, “EL SUENO DE ESPERANZA” at the Hollywood Palladium. Sponsored by Farmers Insurance Group, the gala will be chaired by Eva Longoria Parker, star of ABC’s Desperate Housewives and PADRES’ National Spokesperson while comedian George Lopez will once again act as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. The evening will also include surprise special musical performances by a renowned multiple Latin Grammy award winning female artist as well as Beto Cuevas singer, formerly of La Ley and past recipient of the PADRES’ 2007 Ruby Oliva Cedillo Tribute Award.
“Through the support of Farmers Insurance Group, L’Oreal Paris, Ken Paves and heroes such as Eva Longoria Parker and George Lopez, we are extremely grateful that we are able to continue to extend support to the extraordinary children fighting cancer and to their families,” said Elvia Barboa, Chief Executive Officer of PADRES. “For this year’s ‘EL SUENO DE ESPERANZA’ GALA we aim to honor and celebrate these individuals and the organizations who have repeatedly lent their assistance to PADRES in fulfilling our life saving mission.”
Ken Paves and L’OREAL Paris whose direct financial contributions in support of PADRES and it’s life-saving mission, will each individually be acknowledged with the “EL SUENO DE ESPERANZA” Award. This award acknowledges an individual/corporate partner for exemplary dedication, commitment and compassion to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families.
Luisa Acosta-Franco, Assistant Vice-President of Diversity & Emerging Markets of FARMERS, said, “For the third year, it will be with great pleasure and honor for Farmers to support PADRES on their never – ending quest to conquer childhood cancer. Our commitment to the ‘EL SUENO DE ESPERANZA’ Gala and its mission is tremendously important to us and we look forward to returning as the title sponsor.”
“EL SUENO DE ESPERANZA” will also recognize PADRES’ distinguished friends and colleagues for their humanitarian contributions in support of the cancer community. Additional honoree this year will include the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, who will receive the Ruby Oliva Cedillo Tribute Award for exemplifying PADRES’ guiding values and core ideals – Honesty, Character, Integrity, Respect, Commitment to Community, and Service to Humanity.
