CENTRO Tampa will be expanding its circulation to include Hispanic households in Pinellas County effective March 7, 2014.  This is the second time CENTRO Tampa, the leading Hispanic weekly in Tampa Bay, expands in the last three years.  In 2012 CENTRO Tampa added 10,000 copies in Pasco County and the most recent expansion to Pinellas will add 15,000 additional copies.  This will bring the total circulation to more than 65,000 copies.

“The growth in Hispanic population seen within the last ten years is clear proof that there is a pent up demand for a serious publication with hard news,” said Orlando Nieves, general manager of the media enterprise that also includes a website, www.centrotampa.com. “For the past nine years, we have produced award winning stories that showcase the many issues the Hispanic population confronts on a daily basis,” he added.

Pinellas Hispanics grew by 73% according to Census data for 2010, outpacing the growth seen in Florida as well as the US.  The county includes a wide variety of readers from different countries that make for a vibrant melting pot within the Tampa Bay area.

The additional copies will reach Pinellas households that have self-identified themselves as Hispanic in origin.  The free home delivery will also be paired with close to 30 racks in high-traffic locations within Clearwater and Pinellas Park.
