Campeones Awards Recognize Non Profits, Goverment Officials and Individuals Who Go Above and Beyond their Call of Duty

Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association’s (LISTA) Georgia Technology Council has announced the winners of its 3rd Annual Georgia Tech-Latino Leadership Luncheon and “Campeones de Nuestra Comunidad” Awards, which recognizes community leaders who go above and beyond for the Latino community.  Recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony to be held at the World Renown Melia Hotel on Wednesday August 31 2011 at 11:30 am and will be hosted by CNN’s Café Con CNN Lucia Navarro. This will also kick off LISTA 2011 Program season

The 3rd Annual LISTA Georgia Tech-Latino Leadership Luncheon and “Campeones de Nuestra Comunidad” Awards is Chaired by Monica Maldonado and will feature opening remarks by LISTA National President Jose Marquez-Leon and Keynote delivered by Javier Polit, CIO of the Coca Cola Company. The event is sponsored by AT&T, Aetna, Comcast, Coca Cola, CapitalPRWire, CNN, Macy’s Foundation, MicroTech, Regions Bank, OVN Latino, CIGNA, The Home Depot, Mundo Hispanico, Real Atlanta  and State Farm.

The LISTA Campeones de Nuestra Comunidad Awards acknowledges community leaders and LISTA members across the State of Georgia who have given time and resources to make the Latino community shine on the public stage and who are unsung heroes of our community. Winners were selected by LISTA’s National and Georgia Board of Directors in an online vote.  Selection of these awardees was based on individual contributions made to the Latino community in 2010-2011.

  • Georgia Government Beacon Award – The Honorable Pedro Marin, State Representative .
  • Georgia Corporate Citizen Award – James Petty Vice President, Regions Bank
  • Georgia Businessman of the Year Award – Carlos Quinones CEO, Display America
  • Life Time Achievement – Dr. Walter F Young, President Youth International Development Corp.

Our awardees represents the very best America has to offer. They are the manifestation of dedication, integrity and intellect” said Jose A Marquez-Leon, National President and CEO of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association. “It is precisely with the achievements of these winners in mind that our commitment to the Latino community remains as strong as ever,” stressed Marquez-Leon. “They are role models in the best possible sense of the word for our next generation of leaders.”
