Roymi V. Membiela has been appointed Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Baptist Health South Florida. In this new role, she will lead Baptist Health’s marketing and communications efforts for all of its hospitals and facilities.
Ms. Membiela previously served six years as Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Baptist Health, where she was responsible for spearheading marketing and outreach efforts to South Florida’s Hispanic communities, Baptist Outpatient Services, Physicians Referral Services, Digital Marketing and the new West Kendall Baptist Hospital. Ms. Membiela has been the producer and host of “Health, Life & Community”, radio programs in two languages, focused on health care awareness, prevention and early detection; she is the founder and editor of the award-winning Baptist Salud, a quarterly Spanish-language health and wellness lifestyle magazine.
Ms. Membiela’s career spans 30 years in the marketing and communications field. Prior to joining Baptist Health, she was Senior Vice President for KSR, a Coral Gables-based communications firm, where she was responsible for launching the communication efforts for the Miami Dade Expressway Authority and the introduction of electronic toll collection ‘SunPass.’ Prior to her consulting career, she enjoyed a 17-year tenure at The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald, where she was responsible for advertising, marketing and new business development.
Ms. Membiela is a respected civic and business leader in South Florida. She has received numerous accolades, including: the 2010 “Hispanic Woman of Distinction Award,” South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2006 “Women of Leadership Award,” as well as the Miami-Dade County 2003 “In the Company of Women Award,” among many others. Additionally, former Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa and the Board of County Commissioners proclaimed October 3, 2003, as “Roymi V. Membiela Day” to honor her outstanding work in the local community. Ms. Membiela also serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including: the Health Foundation of South Florida, Cuban American National Council, Community Habilitation Center, and of her alma mater, Immaculata-LaSalle High School’s Alumni Association.
A graduate of Barry University, she was inducted into its Alumni Hall of Fame. Ms. Membiela also earned a Master of Science in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
