National leaders in Latino marketing help local businesses gain deeper understanding of the Bicultural Latino digital experience
The Austin Advertising Federation is set to host its third annual 2013 Hispanic Marketing Symposium happening Friday, May 3rd at the Blanton Museum of Art. The half-day event, entitled State of Mind: Understanding the Latino Experience, will bring national speakers in advertising, marketing and business, and is expected to draw more than 200 professionals looking to gain a deeper understanding of the Latino market and how to better connect with them in the digital space.
“A tremendous opportunity exists for companies looking for effective ways to connect with Latino consumers,” said Karen Goumakos, President of the Austin Ad Fed. “Austin has become a creative resource for major Fortune 500 companies seeking to do just that, and this event will inspire companies to think way beyond their current programs.”
Keynote speakers include Chiqui Cartagena, Author of Latino Boom II: Catch the Biggest Demographic Wave Since the Baby Boom, who is also VP of Corporate Marketing for Univision Communications, Inc. in New York City and Lonnie Limon, President of Inspire Culture who will present The Latino State of Mind: Technology, Race and Music. Additional workshops will include The Plus Identity: Shifting Paradigms and the Future of Latino Culture in the U.S. with Juan Mantilla of LatinWorks; 5 Technologies You Should Know About in 2013 with Omar Gallaga; Latino Loyalty on the Move; plus other topics on mobile technology, apps, digital campaign case studies, blogging and market research.
“There isn’t one answer or simple way to define what it means to be Latino,” said Mando Rayo, Chair of the 2013 HMS Conference and VP of Engagement at Cultural Strategies. “We wanted this year’s content to be comprehensive on digital technology, while delving further into the Latino mindset. Embracing the Latino state of mind as a marketer is key in 2013 and is the first step to creating meaningful digital connections.”
