
In this role, Alberto is responsible for designing integrated communications strategies and leading a high-energy team that is charged with demonstrating how Verizon is breaking down technology barriers for consumers, small businesses, and sustainable communities. He oversees public relations, industry analyst relations, executive messaging, and social media and digital strategy. Alberto also serves as a key member of Verizon’s corporate communications leadership on issues and initiatives affecting the company’s brand.
Alberto is the youngest (under 40) Hispanic VP in Verizon’s wireline organization. He made the climb from manager to VP in about six years. Having held several positions of increasing responsibility since joining Verizon in 2005, Alberto previously served as a director of public relations for Verizon. In that role, he conceptualized and executed national public relations campaigns that raised awareness of the company’s social innovation efforts. He also led external communications efforts that supported products and services for consumer, business, and wholesale markets including cloud services, FiOS as a platform, and the launch of Verizon’s smart home services. Before that, Alberto served as strategic public relations counsel and spokesman on a variety of corporate issues including human resources, international operations, labor relations, public policy, and corporate responsibility.
Prior to joining Verizon, Alberto held a number of communications positions including in the retail industry, higher education and in the media. He began his career as newspaper reporter and columnist for a daily newspaper in New Jersey, and earned several awards for his work. He is a graduate of Jersey City State College, and resides in New Jersey with his wife and two children.
