Latino Parenting Bloggers Issue National Call for Gift Ideas for 2012’s Biggest Hispanic Blogger Holiday Gift Guide

Leading Latino parenting blogs PapiBlogger and Mamá Contemporánea are issuing a national call for gift ideas for their third annual 2012 Holiday Gift Guide, the largest and best known Holiday gift guide by Latino bloggers.

“This year’s guide will be our largest and most widely promoted guide because this time we are collaborating with more Latino social media platforms and bloggers than ever before,” said Manny Ruiz, who earlier this month added marketing veteran Octavio Navarro as co-publisher of PapiBlogger.  “For brands with gift ideas for children, moms and dads across a wide range of ages, tastes and budgets, this is THE guide they need to be in.”

The attractive, fully bilingual shopping guide will be published online and heavily publicized nationally on Tuesday, November 20, just in time for Black Friday.  One of the largest Latino Twitter parties of the year will be held on Tuesday, November 20th, the third year in a row that thousands of dollars in prizes will be given away on one night.  The deadline to submit gift ideas is Friday, November 16.  Gift ideas may be submitted to giftguide@papiblogger.com.

The 2012 guide will be massively promoted through a proprietary social media and traditional media platform co-developed by PapiBlogger and Mamá Contemporánea.  This platform and the huge public relations push that supports it guarantees that sponsors and participating companies’ products will receive strong, sustained visibility with Hispanic consumers leading up to the Hanukah, Christmas and Three Kings holiday season.

CONTENTS OF THE GUIDE

Published in English and Spanish separately, the guide will consist of gift ideas for moms, dads and children of all ages.  Gift ideas will range widely from the latest and greatest baby bags to the best electric shavers and digital cameras.  The bloggers will write 75 to 125-word entries for each item that makes it into the guide.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Companies and/or their public relations firms can submit their gift ideas by emailing giftguide@papiblogger.com.  PapiBlogger and Mamá Contemporánea will share all gift ideas accepted for inclusion in the guide with the majority of all children gifts being donated to the 6th Annual Pa’l Pueblo Holiday Toy Drive, an initiative started by Capicu Cultural Showcase in partnership with Sofrito For Your Soul to collect, wrap and deliver presents to 500 underserved children in the Bushwick United Headstart Program of New York.

PapiBlogger Hits the Road Again, This Time for Summer’s Ultimate Family Road Trip

A year after logging 12,000 miles with his family during a summer odyssey through 33 states, social media entrepreneur Manny Ruiz – aka the “PapiBlogger” – is headed on the road again.

Starting July 8, PapiBlogger will be “doing Disney” coast-to-coast and beyond the blue horizon plus several of America’s national parks during a 37-day adventure that will touch 18 states from Florida to Alaska.

During the epic family trip, geography and science class will be in session for Jonathan (11), Elena (7) and Briani (2). They will see glaciers, search for whales and bears as well as marvel at mountains and valleys on a Disney Cruise Line® vacation to Alaska and during visits to Grand Tetons National Park, Yosemite National Park, Crater Lake and North Cascades National Park. And there will be a music class, too, as they pay a visit on Graceland, the long-time home of rock-and-roll legend Elvis Presley.

The Ruiz family will travel in almost every type of transportation available to the modern family.  They’ll fly, “ride the rails,” take a cruise and drive in the comfort of the “PapiMobile” – this year a fully decked out 2011 Buick Enclave, one of Consumer Report’s 2010 “Recommended Buys” for its class.

Bloggers Spread Word on Detroit

General Motors and Ford are mining a rich new source of marketing buzz for their vehicles at this year’s Detroit car show.

Between them, the two carmakers have invited more than 120 bloggers and Facebook enthusiasts from around the world to attend the show, and share their impressions through social media. Ford’s guests come from as far afield as New Zealand and South Africa.

“In the past, there was a top-down approach to communications,” says Paul Rand, president of the US Word of Mouth Marketing Association, which represents social media marketers. “Increasingly, there is the ability to get support from a [bottom-up] groundswell.”

Many of the carmakers’ guests have little direct connection to the car industry. Manny Ruiz, from Miami, runs a site devoted to “creative parenting”. Jewel Figueras covers, according to her business card, “celebs, fashion, events and everything fab”.
