Embargo – not just boycott – is what may now happen to Arizona for bad PR/legal move against Latinos

Arizona has got a national PR fiasco of epic proportions in its hands.  The state government’s passage of what is widely considered a racist Latino profiling law is causing some weird but not fully unwarranted repercussions.  Arizona is almost being treated like another country as major metropolitan cities across the country call for what  looks  like an unprecedented embargo – and not just economic boycott – against it.  It’s an interesting move that will be very controversial and may even inadvertently hurt Latino businesses.

Villaraigosa backs L.A. boycott of Arizona over immigration crackdown

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Thursday that he supports a boycott of Arizona by the city of Los Angeles, and he called that state’s newly passed immigration law “unpatriotic and unconstitutional.”

“No person should be treated differently in the eyes of the law,” he said at a news conference.

The mayor said boycotts have worked in the past and cited the city’s divestiture from South Africa in the 1980s to protest apartheid.

Villaraigosa is the latest of a growing a number of elected officials who have called for boycotts against Arizona in the wake of its new immigration rules.  Click here to read the full story.

You need to spend your time reading how the majority of your fellow Americans feel. Yes you are American just in case you forgot. Also, why is it you folks do not go after the Mexican gov’t…the real reason we have illegal immigration from Mexico. Oh forgot, takes a backbone and much easier mouthing off in the greatest nation in the world!

Trust me…most have no problems with Latinos, Europeans, Africians, Middle East and Asians coming here. Just do it leaglly and be part of the solution…not part of the problem.
