MIAMI, FL – In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Colombian TV personality and chef Ingrid Hoffmann has teamed up with the Hispanic got milk? campaign to educate Latina moms on how to transform an ordinary family dinner into a nutritious and fun fiesta with low fat milk! Through her partnership with the milk mustache program, Ingrid hopes to inspire Hispanic families to celebrate meals together when sitting around the dinner table.  Not only is it a great time to bond, but it’s also a good opportunity for parents to instill life-long healthy habits, like cooking with and drinking low fat milk.

“Being able to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as the latest to don the famous milk mustache is an honor for me because, as a proud Latina, I cook a lot of culturally-inspired dishes, many of which use milk.  So, low fat milk is a staple in my kitchen — not only because it’s the perfect complement to my favorite spicy Latin dishes, but because it’s a great way to boost the nutritional value of delicious meals!,” Ingrid said.

Low Fat Milk: The Chef’s Special!

Through her milk mustache program, Ingrid wants to educate Hispanic moms that as nature’s wellness drink, milk is naturally nutrient rich like no other beverage — it supplies many of the vitamins and minerals that Hispanics fail to get enough of in their daily diets.

Another important fact for Ingrid to point out is that low fat and fat free milk have exactly the same 9 essential nutrients as whole milk: calcium, vitamin D, protein, phosphorus, riboflavin, vitamin B-12, vitamin A, potassium and niacin.  For Ingrid, this is especially important because many of her recipes include low fat milk.  She encourages moms to follow her lead by substituting creams and oils with low fat milk — this is a simple step they can take towards achieving their family’s wellness, while feeling good about the nutritional value of their favorite meals!

“Through my campaign, I hope to educate Hispanic moms on the importance of drinking three glasses of low fat or fat free milk each day or incorporating it into their cooking.  These are small steps they can take to make sure their family stays healthy and well… as I always say, ‘milk is an important ingredient for the recipe of wellness!,'” states Ingrid.

Celebrating Family Traditions

As the daughter of a Cordon Bleu-trained chef, Ingrid learned the basics of the kitchen at a very young age from her mother.  Today, the Colombian born Miami native hosts Simply Delicioso on Food Network as well as her own Spanish-language cooking and lifestyle show, Delicioso, on Galavision/Univision.  Aside from the two shows, Ingrid pulled together a compilation of her recipes and entertaining ideas, which are showcased in her first cookbook, SIMPLY DELICIOSO: A Collection of Everyday Recipes with a Latin Twist.

Using some of the very same teachings her mom passed down to her, Ingrid is now educating Hispanic moms about the importance of good nutrition and using healthy ingredients, like low fat milk, when brainstorming recipes to cook as a family.  “Growing up, my mom was my role model in the kitchen. Whether she was preparing a family recipe or making a simple breakfast, she always made sure our family was eating right.  Kids watch what their parents do as much, if not more than, listening to what they say, so I say to moms, ‘drink not only to your wellness, but to your family’s wellness as well!,'” concludes Ingrid.

Hispanic Heritage Month Goes Digital with Milk!

Ingrid is set to host her first ever LIVE interactive cooking demonstration on whymilk.com and eligeleche.com on September 9 at 3PM ET. She’ll prepare one of her signature dishes, perfect for your next family meal. Fans can submit questions to both web sites and she’ll answer live during the cooking class.

Also check out www.eligeleche.com to access some of Ingrid’s favorite milk-based recipes, behind the scenes photos from her ad shoot and a video interview with her.
