Endemol Shine Latino brings new U.S. Hispanic programming to L.A. screenings
Endemol Shine Latino, a division of Endemol Shine North America, is bringing an assortment of new U.S. Hispanic programming to the LA Screenings, including the first-ever U.S. Spanish-language edition of hit format “MasterChef,” it was announced today by Laurens Drillich, President, Endemol Shine Latino.
In addition to “MasterChef Latino,” which will debut next season on Telemundo, Endemol Shine Latino is launching “Strictly Dancing” (“Mira Quién Baila”) and “Your Face Sounds Familiar” (“Tu Cara Me Suena”) with Univision and the highly anticipated scripted series “El Ganador” starring Nicky Jam for Telemundo. Endemol Shine Latino is also producing upcoming unscripted digital series “Loves Clicks 24/7” for Telemundo.com and the second season of breakout series “El Vato” for Universo.
Endemol Shine and Major TV also recently optioned the television rights to Chris Perez’s To Selena With Love, the best-selling book that tells the late Latin music superstar’s love story through the eyes of her husband. Endemol Shine and Major TV are adapting To Selena With Love for both English and Spanish TV audiences with Blue Mariachi, Perez and Carlito Miranda’s production company.
“2017 is proving to be a very exciting year for Endemol Shine Latino, as we’re producing more original content for the U.S. Hispanic market than ever before,” says Drillich. “We are extremely proud to present such a volume of shows across a variety of different genres and we have a lot to celebrate in Brazil and across all of Latin America, as well.”
Endemol Shine Latino oversees all Spanish-language production, format sales and development in both the U.S. and Mexico, as well as Spanish and Portuguese-language business across all of Latin America. The division, which is based in Miami, Fla., is led by Drillich, who took up his current role in March 2016.
“MasterChef Latino” sets out to find the best amateur cook whose talent and passion could transform his/her life. Many aspiring chefs will audition before the “MasterChef Latino” judges, but only a few will make it to boot camp. There, their culinary skills will be pushed to the limit as only half will be awarded a place in the “MasterChef Latino” kitchen, where the competition really heats up.
The amateurs are whittled down as they face their toughest challenges yet. It’s a life-changing journey for many, but only one will be crowned “MasterChef Latino.” Produced by Endemol Shine Latino, a division of Endemol Shine North America, “MasterChef” is the most successful food format of all time and has been adapted in 51 territories worldwide and has been a primetime hit for over a decade.
“El Ganador,” which will star Nicky Jam and is set to launch in the U.S. on Telemundo, is produced by Endemol Shine Latino and Mexico City-based production company Boomdog. “El Ganador” will tell the life story of award-winning Nicky Jam, a singer-songwriter, who has become a worldwide music phenomenon.
From his humble and troubled start in Boston, to his downfall on the streets, to becoming the king of one of the most popular musical genres, this is not only the life of Nicky Jam, but the history of reggaeton itself. Nicky Jam has since received some of the most prestigious awards in the music industry, sold out stadiums, earned the admiration of his colleagues and is now the greatest exponent of urban music.
“El Ganador” will be directed by award-winning Jessy Terrero, while Juan Diego Medina of La Industria Inc. and Sergio Pizzolante of C&T Mobs, will serve as executive producers. Casting is currently underway and production is slated to start later this year.
“Love Clicks 24/7” takes the reality genre to a whole new level for Generation M. “Love Clicks 24/7” is a bilingual reality show for the streaming age where three attractive single men will compete in their search for true love. But while the men think they have the upper hand in this search, the tables will turn and the women actually have their pick. However, in the end, it is the audience who decides if this couple really clicks and without their votes, even Cupid is left powerless.
“Your Face Sounds Familiar (“Tu Cara me Suena”) is an international blockbuster format in which well-known celebrities accept the challenge of singing live while impersonating a music icon. With the support of the best make-up artists and vocal coaches in the industry, the contestants will re-create performances from a range of popular musical genres from rock en Español to Colombian cumbia to regional Mexican. “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” which will debut next season on Univision, is a global format sensation, sold in 39 territories worldwide.
“Strictly Dancing!” (“¡Mira Quién Baila!”) Hosted by Chiquinquirá Delgado, “Strictly Dancing” pairs 10 beloved Hispanic celebrities with talented amateur dancers to compete in front of a live audience every week, dancing to a variety of different rhythms, all in the name of charity. A panel of well-known judges demands the best of contestants as they narrow the field, with the audience making the final decision and selecting the winner. The charity represented by the winning celebrity will receive a generous monetary prize. Set to debut on Univision next season, “Strictly Dancing!” is sold in more than 13 global territories by Endemol Shine.
