Hispanicize Interview: South Florida Political Watchdog Blogger Elaine de Valle

Ever since the former Miami Herald Pulitzer-Prize-winning political reporter went solo and launched Political Cortadito (Political Brew) in 2010, she’s received her share of illegal trespassing warnings, Cease and Desist letters and hateful and false comments on her blog. Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez has kicked her out of public events. And one night, a cop stopped her, only to later admit that the Police Chief ordered him to arrest her.

“If you’re doing your job well,” says de Valle, “there will be threats and intimidation.”

De Valle, whose nickname is “Ladra” (Bark), will be speaking next Friday the 13th at Hispanicize 2012 on a panel about how Latino bloggers and media will cover the 2012  elections.
