BREAKING: Hispanic Market Weekly Editorial Director Cynthia Corzo leaving HMW; Diego Vasquez taking editorial reigns
Hispanic Market Weekly’s longtime Editorial Director Cynthia Corzo, a partner and owner of the venerable marketing trade media company which she has been with for 10 years, announced today that Friday will be her last day as the full time editor of HMW. In a letter to Hispanic market industry insiders and friends Corzo said she will be joining Florida International University as assistant director of communications-College of Business, an “opportunity that was simply too good to refuse.”
Effective immediately HMW will be lead editorially by Minneapolis-based Diego Vasquez, a long-time contributor to HMW’s Ratings Watch and FocusON Entertainment features.
“Diego knows HMW very well and is going to do a great job,” Corzo told the Hispanic PR Blog. “Together with other staffers, freelancers and even me in a more limited capacity, we will continue to help HMW evolve.”
Below is the full text of the personal letter Corzo issued today:
It’s been 10 years since I joined HMW to cover all things marketing and media in the Hispanic market and what a great run it’s been! We’ve broken and covered major stories, accomplishments that some described as incredible or impossible, the amazing growth not just of the Hispanic population but also of Latino advertising agencies and brands’ marketing outreach to Hispanics, plus Spanish-language and Hispanic-focused media. When I first came on board, I couldn’t imagine we would get to the Hispanic media and marketing landscape that we see today.
Now it’s time for me to move on. I will be leaving HMW at the end of this week to join Florida International University as assistant director of communications-College of Business. It’s a great opportunity that will present new adventures, challenges, and one where the lessons I’ve learned at HMW – with the help of all my friends (you are no longer “sources”) – will come in very handy.
