Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives names Northwell’s Ramon Soto Hospital Executive of the Year

Northwell Health’s Ramon Soto has been named Hospital Executive of the Year by the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives.

As Northwell’s senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer, Mr. Soto successfully rebranded one of the largest healthcare systems in the nation and led campaigns that highlighted Northwell’s focus on innovation.

“I am very honored to be the recipient of the Association’s Hospital Executive of the Year award,” said Mr. Soto. “For almost 30 years, the AHHE has worked diligently to increase the presence of Hispanics in the field of health administration. Even more importantly, the dedicated professionals in this organization are committed to educating our industry about the Hispanic healthcare marketplace. For these reasons, this recognition is extremely gratifying to me on both the personal and professional levels.”

The AHHE, which was founded in 1998, has been a guiding force for Hispanics who strive to be leaders in the health care industry.

“People look for role models and Ramon is just that,” said George Zeppenfeldt-Cestero, president and CEO of AHHE. “He can influence people to recruit and retain talent from the Latino community.”

Mr. Soto was charged with three key responsibilities when he joined Northwell in 2015: create a new name for the organization, innovate a strategy for the brand and build a world-class marketing function. In two short years, Mr. Soto has successfully rebranded Northwell and earned several accolades.

After graduating from Binghamton University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Mr. Soto earned his master’s in Business Administration Healthcare from Yale University’s School of Management. He began his very successful career in advertising, working on accounts for AT&T, Western Union, and RJ Reynolds products. He served in several marketing roles at GE Capital, where he was responsible for market and consumer analytics, target marketing, and brand management. Before moving to Northwell, Mr. Soto was principal at Re-Think Marketing, where he led the enterprise marketing function with responsibility for strategic planning, market differentiation, sales penetration, and customer acquisition and retention.
