My ‘dos centavos’ on Engaging Hispanics in Social Media and Language Use

Those marketers advanced enough to be engaging (or trying to at least) Hispanics in social media have a huge issue to overcome. English? or Spanish? What language do I communicate in? Most don’t even try and jump into the conclusion that if they are in social media it must be English? or is it? My take is that language is irrelevant and what matters is being relevant by being in-culture. Being in-culture sometimes means relating to your audience in the right language or mix of languages. Hispanic PR firm Izo Inc. Co-Hosting Oregon’s Hispanic Heritage Month Kick Off Event

Hispanic public relations firm Izo, Inc. is co-hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month Breakfast that will feature a keynote by Presidential Medal Recipient, Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. September 15 in Salem, Oregon.  The breakfast is being presented by Salem Health.

Where to Find Latinos: Social Media Alternatives

It is important to stay on top of which social media sites can be used to engage Latinos as the landscape evolves. While we all know about the hugely popular sites such as Facebook and Twitter, there are also a variety of smaller sites that cater to Latinos in some way. Some of these social media forums are growing, some shrinking, and all appeal to more specialized markets.  We compared a few of the ones popular with Hispanics and gave them a ranking, ‘A’ through ‘D’ based on their usefulness for marketers.

Google: 1 million Gmail calls on first day

(CNET) — Google Wave and Google Buzz may have had troubles attracting usage, but the new ability to place calls from Gmailappears to have caught on quickly.

“Over 1,000,000 calls placed from Gmail in just 24 hours!” Google tweeted Thursday, evidently pleased with the number.
